K9 Unit
The Park Forest Police Department K9 Unit is currently consists of two K9 teams assigned to the Patrol Division. Certified by the American Working Dog Association, the Park Forest Police K9 Units specialize in narcotics detection and persons searches, and are routinely used for a variety of assignments such as vehicle searches, school locker searches, missing person searches, suspect tracking, crowd control, as well as participating in community demonstrations.
The role of K9 Officer is a coveted position within the Park Forest Police Department, and K9 Officers are generally chosen from the ranks of the patrol division based on dedication to duty, aggressive patrolling, and an aptitude for handling the increased time demands and responsibility of being a Park Forest Police K9 Officer.
